These Pomegranate Glazed Sausage Bits are a simple and delicious appetizer. Serve them warm with toothpicks, or on crackers, as an ideal nosh for parties and gatherings!

This is what happens when you let your 13 year old son plan the Sunday dinner menu. I asked him to plan a menu that his father and sisters would enjoy after a weekend in Wisconsin for a basketball tournament. Without hesitation, he declared Fried Chicken to be the main course. We all love fried chicken, but why do I have a feeling that he was thinking of his own appetite when planning the menu? That’s o.k. It really has been quite some time since I fried up a batch of that southern specialty. But since I had a bit of pomegranate juice to use up, I took charge of the appetizer.

Three ingredients (well, 4-5 if you include the hot sauce and crackers) and 10 minutes is all you need for a simple yet very flavorful starter for a meal or a snack with cocktails. It is sliced kielbasa, glazed in a reduced syrup of pomegranate juice and ketchup (just one tablespoon).
Serve them on their own with toothpicks, or place them atop your favorite cracker (Ritz pairs well). Serve them as a starter for your meal, as a snack with cocktails, or bring them to a game-day party as a fresh alternative to the usual mini meatballs or little smokies. Hit those meaty coins with a dash or two of Tabasco, and I guarantee this recipe will be filed in the “hit” category.

Super easy and SUPER tasty! The glazed sausage bits will be a hit for any occasion!
Ingredients
- 13- ounce link of kielbasa, cut into ½-inch thick slices (yields about 42 slices)
- ½ cup pomegranate juice
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- Tabasco to taste, plus extra for serving
Accompaniments
- Ritz crackers
Instructions
- In a medium non-stick skillet, bring the pomegranate juice, ketchup, and a dash of Tabasco to a boil. Boil for 2-3 minutes or until it becomes syrupy. Add the sausage slices to the sauce and cook over high heat, turning them occasionally, until the mixture has reduced almost completely and coats the sausage, about 2-3 minutes. Serve with toothpicks or on top of Ritz crackers. Enjoy!
