Key Ingredients for Blue Cheese Wedge Salad Crostini

Sliced bread, cooked bacon, chives, iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, mayonnaise, and cracked black pepper arranged neatly on a white surface.

French Baguette is the perfect serving vehicle for the “salad” topping. Look for a classic baguette and not a large soft baguette.

Garlic Powder (not pictured)adds a light dusting of savory flavor to the crostini

Iceberg Lettuce is the classic green used in a wedge salad. Look for a small, firm head with no bruised outer leaves.

Hickory-Smoked Bacon adds a rich smoky flavor that pairs will with the blue cheese.

Crumbled Blue Cheese and Blue Cheese Dressing are the rich flavors that help bind the salad. I like to use my Homemade Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing.

Cherry Tomatoes add flavor, vibrant color, and a bursting bite.

Chives add freshness and a mild onion flavor and are used only as a garnish.

Equipment Needed

  • Rimmed baking sheet
  • Glass nesting bowls
A glass bowl with chopped lettuce, bacon bits, blue cheese, and dressing on a white surface, surrounded by toasted bread, cherry tomatoes, chopped herbs, and a small bowl of black pepper.

Tips for Making Blue Cheese Wedge Salad Crostini

This is a straight forward and easy recipe. You can make the crostini the night before, but wait to make the salad topping before serving. This will ensure the lettuce stays crisp, and the bacon cruncy.

Substitutions

  • Use a whole wheat baguette for the crostini.
  • Substitute avocado oil for the olive oil.
  • Substitute turkey bacon, plant-based bacon, or store-bought bacon for the smoked bacon.
  • Use pre-crumbled blue cheese and store-bought dressing.
  • If cherry tomatoes aren’t available, try 1 or 2 Roma tomatoes, seed them, and finely dice them.
  • Substitute basil or parsley for the chives.
Five crostini topped with lettuce, creamy spread, halved cherry tomatoes, chopped chives, and black pepper sit on a dark slate surface.

Serving Suggestions

Can I make this in advance?

You can make the crostini the day before and store it in an airtight container at room temperature. Make the crostini topping before serving. That way the Iceberg remains crisp and the bacon crunchy.
